Nano in his own words
The first album I remember from my childhood was a single by Jerry Williams & The Violents, Twistin 'Patricia, I loved that song and I put it continuously in a portable device for bag type singles, which I had hung all day from the shoulder various singles, also had one of Gene Vincent and another of Vince Taylor, this was the result of chance, I think my mother did not know who they were exactly but she liked music in general and simply bought them because they coincided at the time? I liked drawing a lot, I did not do it very well but I loved drawing and I spent many hours drawing. influenced by Comics, adventure films and novels, after reading something, listening to something or watching a movie, I went straight to drawing and listening to music.
When I was 16 years old and again the result of chance, I began to discover that it was that of rock and roll as an urban culture, I still enjoyed the drawing, the comics, the movies and the music of the 80s listening to a lot of Spanish music of the time and much more attracted by Rock than by other music, I started as an apprentice in a graphic design studio, in the old way, repromaster, lettersset, etc ... almost without realizing I was completely absorbed by this profession, in parallel to this I started to frequent a bar where rockabillys were going, so I did not know what this meant or where it would take me, little by little I was getting soaked by the rockabilly culture, the music that was coming was never enough, Roy Orbison, who is it? I want to hear it, Ronnie Dawson ?, well, I want more, every day was a cultural discovery, not only music but aesthetics, movies, hairstyles, a way of life, those first Tupes with lacquer, the first jacket leather, my first boots, great memories that have influenced my life completely, continue working hard in graphic design, work for some multinationals and I did all kinds of jobs specializing in company corporate identity, many people think that I am typecast in rock and roll, but they are very wrong, I love my profession and I love rock and roll and I always look for balance, it's true, I enjoy drawing more for the culture that I adore but I work actively and day by day in different projects, I never promote this, I do not need it and I enjoy more sharing my drawings and designs related to Rock and Roll.
I love to draw and learn, day by day I struggle to improve, I am not the best, I know, but I struggle every day like and to be, it does not matter if I arrive or not, the important thing is learning along the way and I leave my skin in everything I do, always moved more by passion than reason, when the networks started, a world opened up for me, living in the Canary Islands it is very difficult to promote yourself outside and more if you dedicate your work to a culture like rock and roll, internet has made it possible for more people to know what I do and support my work, there is still a lot to walk, but the road is open, these years I have made many covers of records, logos for bands and posters, I enjoy doing this, I have also done my collection of t-shirts, more than 400 models, now I am eliminating many designs and re-drawing them, cartoonist's manias: D.
Normally I make sketches in pencil, I still prefer pencil and paper, this does not lie, it is real what you see, it is what there is, with its defects and its virtues, inking and digitally coloring color for the comfort of space and cleanliness, I think the combination of manual and digital work is perfect, I do not like the perfect finishings of the vectors for all drawings, the drawings are very cold and it is difficult to recognize your style later, they hide defects that you will never learn if it is easier to conceal them, so I prefer to keep learning every time I pick up a Pencil.
Currently I combine my work as art director and graphic designer with album covers and posters linked to the culture of rock and roll, as a hobby I like to customize the Playmobils to spend time listening to good music. This year I want to promote more sculpture, I enjoy it a lot and I have more ease than with the drawing, I have already started a collection of brooches for leather jackets, I go little by little because I paint them by hand and it is a slow process, I also have some surprise for the end of the year with something completely new in what I am immersed in these moments and that are going to keep me a little outside the networks.
I would like to thank all the friends and supporters who support my work, they are part of what makes this engine work with passion and always try to outdo me to give my best, I will not name anyone because I do not want anyone to Be behind without naming but I feel very fortunate of the signs of affection and the welcome of my work.
